The Texas Legislature meets every two years for a regular session that may not exceed 140 days. Each session convenes in regular session on the second Tuesday of each odd-numbered year. The Texas Senate is composed of thirty-nine members, each elected for a four-year term. The House of Representatives is composed of 150 members, each elected for a two-year term.
Tues. January 9, 2007 - The 80th legislature convenes at noon.
Fri. March 9, 2007 - Deadline for filing bills.
Mon. May 28, 2007 - Last day of the regular session.
Sun. June 17, 2007 - Last day Governor can sign or veto bills passed during the regular session.
Mon. August 27, 2007 - Date bills without specific effective dates become law.
